I've been wrong before...

But after walking out of the doctor's appointment yesterday when I was treated rudely by a receptionist, I returned to the practice which delivered my last three babies. It's 15 minutes farther away, but no issue now.

So I went to my appointment today. Remember it's the first time I've been seen this pregnancy? I thought I was 19 weeks. Turns out I am actually 20 weeks! Gotta love when a pregnancy goes this quicky, huh?! The midwife decided to see if there was a cancelation in the ultrasound department. Wouldn't you know there was one in a half hour? So I had an ultrasound too!

I was convinced we were having a boy. I even had a favorite name. But we have to start the process again, as we saw a perfectly formed GIRL!!!

If we saw right, the count will be 7 girls, 3 boys.

All you people having boys... raise them right. We'll need a plethora of Godly men to marry these beauties in a couple decades.

  1. Yeah! That's great news! LeighAnna still thinks that Daddy will be her prince forever but we're still praying for two special little boys out there.

  6. Carri - What wonderful news! Another little girl:-) It sounds like our babies must be due at almost the same time, as I'm 20 weeks yesterday. I wish mine was going as fast though. This happens to be a slow one, and my feet are already feeling tired before the end of the day! Usually I say "yay! 20 weeks - we're halfway there!" and AJ says "ahhh yes, but as I recall the second half is much longer!"
I didn't say that this time. I can't bare the thought of a half that's longer than the first has been;-P

    Congratulations!!!

  8. Congratulations! But sorry, I can't help too much in the boy/future husband prospect. We have four girls and only one boy so far. (We also had one more girl we lost eight months into pregnancy.) With our record so far I don't hold my breath for boy babies. My DH and the boy would sure like another though.

  9. That's super, Carri! I'm sooooo happy for you. What an amazing feat! How's your body holding up? Do you feel good or super achy? Part of me would love to be pregnant again, but I have so many aches and sorenesses not even being pregnant, it's hard to fathom. I'm trying to figure out if it's age, possible arthritis setting in, fibromyalgia or just normal.

  10. Momma Bug... yes, we must be due the same day. I am due on Sept. 24. But the ultrasound showed Sept 18, and I have babies at 37 and 38 weeks, so we anticipate somewhere early to middle Sept.

    Christa-

Last pregnancy was AWFUL. I was so sick. God knew I couldn't handle a hard pregnancy again, so He in His gracious mercy made this one the easiest ever. I really feel good, except when I try to weed. I told Eric I would really like NOT to be pregnant next year during gardening season, so I can bend down without issues.

I do have a lot of achiness for several months after my pregnancies. I think I must be very depleted in something (go figure...) and just take a lot of tylenol and go on.

My main issue is that with the 5 children in 6 years (8 in 12), I have not had the time to lose weight in between. That is much harder for me, personally, as I want to glorify God and don't feel that looking "fluffy" does so. I keep telling myself that someday I will slow down with the babies, even though I have sped up in recent years, and there will be time to lose the weight then.

For me, I truly believe children are a gift of God. If God were gifting me with money, I wouldn't be turning His blessings away, that's for sure! I try to remember that in this phase when I am so tempted in the human flesh to say, "STOP, PLEASE!!!"

My spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. But God is perfect in my weakness. So as the house shrinks (the kids are getting bigger and our living room isn't!!!), and more people need more things from me, I try to daily remember that this is an honorable calling... I would gladly spend my life for the unsaved in Timbuktu... why would I not gladly spend my life for the blessings God has sent me?

Wow- sorry for the soapbox. Pray with your husband... if God is calling you to trust him for your health in pregnancies, do so. It's hard, but worth it.
